Responsible – Weleda makes it a priority to be in dialogue with the people who it works with and works actively with individual farming partners to address specific difficulties in country areas by funding education and facilities such as schools or raw material processing sites in small, rural areas. Through organic cultivation of nearly 248 km2 worldwide (the equivalent of 35,000 football pitches) Weleda is taking active measures to improve soil health and to conserve biodiversity.
To raise awareness for the importance of biodiversity, Weleda Australia has been running the Bee B&B Hotel program since 2016 and has gifted over 500 insect hotels and teaching curriculums to primary schools in Australia. The project allows children to learn and observe native bees and the important role they play in our ecosystem.
Weleda use 100% green electricity and approximately 50% renewable energy at production sites in Germany, Switzerland and France. By 2022 Weleda aims to increase its renewable energy consumption to 80%. Rain water is collected and used for the irrigation of the medicinal plant gardens and biodynamic farming methods employed to increase the formation of humus, which stores carbon effectively.
Super nourishing and beneficial for the skin, applies easily and is truly instant. It’s one of those products that you would stay loyal to forever. Their contribution to people and biodiversity is also excellent – I appreciate their UEBT certification and their organic ingredients are enticing.
The scent, the texture, the results. It’s a beautifully-balanced blend of superstar hydrators. I’ve always been a fan of the original Skin Food but it’s quite a commitment unless your skin is parched. This lighter formulation allows me to enjoy the product’s benefits (and that famous scent!) more regularly. The fair trade agreements and certifications are also proof of Weleda’s ongoing commitment to social and environmental issues
This is one I would recommend to anyone with extremely dry sensitive skin. It is exactly what is says on the bottle – skin food. I use this on my entire body and for the whole family. I love the Weleda’s commitment to fair trade and their global support of small communities. I am also so interested in their biodiversity programme – it is such a holistic vision of skincare manufacturing and I am so glad they are sharing this in schools.
True to its name, this is the ultra-light face moisturiser version of skin food with the same lovely botanical smell and intensively moisturising ingredients. This is so hydrating and much better absorbed than it’s original as it is non-greasy and doesn’t leave a barrier layer. Perfect for dry skin or for an intensive night treatment.
This is the one for me and my dry skin! A lovely, deeply nourishing yet lightweight moisturiser that my skin eats up. It absorbs slowly yet surely, keeping my skin hydrated through the day and night. I love the ingredients of pansy, chamomile and calendula. Blends really well with the Tribe Skincare SPF if you’re looking to add mild sun protection. Good for the hands too.
