Responsible – Nina is the beekeeper in the Blue Mountains behind the Nina’s Bees skincare range. She’s extremely passionate about bees and follows national organic guidelines for beekeeping, as well as being actively involved in the rescue of and education around bees.
Nina works closely with Native Oils of Australia to source single origin, Australian-grown native essential oils and natural ingredients for her products, and to create zero waste in the process. She chooses 100% recyclable packaging for all Nina’s Bees products, including cardboard boxes, aluminium tins and paper.
I think the packaging is so sweet and vintage like. Very easy to apply and blends into the skin nicely. The smell is both floral and citrusy which is fresh and nice. Doesn’t leave a trace of colour or stain, which is also great.
Light enough to put on my face but moisturising enough to target dry spots, I really enjoy using this luxuriously fragrant, ultra-nourishing and protective balm. I used this on some sunburn and it was so soothing and I’ve also used it as a gorgeous hand balm and on the fly as a highlighter for my cheekbones!
I liked that the texture was thick, smooth and smelt natural and that it was enclosed in a recyclable tin. I also appreciate the work they are doing with bee conservation.
I LOVE the scent of pink grapefruit, although it is quite overpowering, and because of this I felt more comfortable applying the balm to my body than my face or neck (thus why this balm is in the body category!) This balm is super moisturising and contains my all-time favourite ingredient, calendula. Combined with the wonderful goodness of Nina’s homegrown / cultivated beeswax and honey, as well as some lovely oils, this balm is super nourishing, as well as zero waste.
I really enjoyed the delicate scents used in this balm. The consistency was also a great surprise, more of a lightweight texture than I’m used to with body balms, but gave as much nourishment and hydration. My skin really drank this up. What an impactful brand! I wish Nina was in New Zealand to give talks to our school kids about beekeeping.
