Merino Kids – winner of the Social Responsibility Award (Baby & Kids)

Responsible icon

Merino Kids’ mission is to provide families with safe, socially responsible and healthy products to promote better sleep for children.

The company runs a project called ‘Bags of Love’ encouraging people to send in their pre-loved baby sleeping bags so that they can be distributed to vulnerable families in need through a range of charitable organisations, including Little Sprouts and Mummys in Need.

The brand is committed to making a positive impact on society both locally and globally, and works to high ethical and sustainable manufacturing standards. The superfine merino is spun, knitted and finished in a production facility in Gurgaon, India, where workers are employed and paid a fair working wage along with benefits and fair hours of work. The facility has been dedicated to the Merino Kids brand since 2012.

Merino wool is sourced from New Zealand and Australian farms through Woolmark accredited farmers, who pride themselves on best practices in regards to animal welfare, farming practices, and environmental management.

For faulty products, the brand’s first option is to repair rather than replace. All paper goods are made with recycled paper or cardboard and are recyclable/bridgeable. No single-use plastics are used within the company.

What our experts say…

We have selected Merino Kids as the recipient of this year’s Award in the Baby & Kids category, not just because they create beautiful products that are safe, ethical and sustainable, but because of their outstanding efforts to give back to society and create change. Merino Kids is a leader in their field and they deserve to be recognised and celebrated!
