Eco Tan is dedicated to creating products that are good for people and the earth. The brand’s Hand and Nail Cream (a winner in this year’s Awards) is a not-for-profit organic product, of which 100% of profits go directly to the charity for Rafiki Mwema, helping young victims of horrific sexual abuse in Kenya.
Sonya Driver, founder of Eco Tan, is also the founder of charity Miracle Made Foundation. Projects funded by the charity include the Miracle School, which employs women living in the slums of New Delhi to create the organic bamboo and cotton fabric used in Eco Tan’s face cloths, wash clothes and tote bags. The school offers good working conditions, fair pay and a purpose and passion for employment.
The foundation also helps animal shelters and charities pay for medical procedures and take care of sick animals, and supports Australia’s very own domestic violence sanctuary, allowing owners and pets to stay together in a safe and caring environment.
Eco Tan is partnered with Greenfleet, an Australian not-for-profit environmental organisation whose mission is to plant native biodiverse forests on behalf of the company and help fight the impacts of climate change.
One of Eco Tan’s ingredients, Inca Inchi, is hand-picked from a sustainable plantation in South America and is a fairtrade ingredient.
The brand’s product formulations are free from toxic chemicals, GMO’s, parabens, SLS, PEGs and the list goes on. Instead, they use beautiful certified organic and natural ingredients that provide a variety of benefits to the skin. The company is certified by the Organic Food Chain Australia, certified by Choose Cruelty Free and is accredited toxic-free by Safe Cosmetics Australia.
Eco Tan’s products are biodegradable, ingredients are responsibly sourced from Australia and communities around the globe, and the company uses recycled and recyclable materials to create product packaging.
We have selected Eco Tan as the recipient of this year’s Award in the Beauty category not just because they create beautiful products that are safe, ethical and sustainable, but because of their outstanding efforts to give back to society and create change. Eco Tan is a leader in their field and they deserve to be recognised and celebrated!
